Once a man sped five miles over the speed limit.  The following day, he slowly crept through a stop sign.  The next day he decided to run a red light when he saw there was no one around.  Soon he was weaving through traffic at 100 miles an hour.  Within the next day he was high jacking cars, and selling parts on the blackmarket.  On the final day, he pulled a a teenager out of his car, killing him, and drove off in the boys car. Maybe he shouldn’t have sped.

Once upon a time a person could become famous because he or she had a talent that most other people didn’t, or because he did something heroic.  Fame is different now.  It has dumbed down.  Take for instance, the University of Floridia student who became famous for interupting a speech by John Kerry, and crying “Don’t taze me bro!” when the police led him away.  He got a reported 2.7 million hits, and time on the today show out of that deal.  Then there was the prostitute who serviced Elliot Spitzer.  She received more than 1 million dollars in modeling and advertising offers, and her bad singing has recieved record downloads on a online music site.  Think about all the bad singers on American Idol, and how much attention and fame they get.  The worst example of undeserved fame is the girls in Florida who beat up a school mate, and recorded it, to post on YouTube.  Fame no longer belongs to the talented, heroic, or even the lucky.  It can be had by anyone.

The Seattle Seahawks 2009 season is undeniable.  They have won 8 straight games, by landslide scores.  There is no way they can continue this streak with their past history of choking under pressure.  The men in town began betting against them, because they could not keep up this record. Win 9, win 10, soon 15, and 16.  They can’t keep up the streak so the bets go higher.  In the end, the faithful fans, are the ones with chubby wallets.
