1. His purpose is to make you think logically about your opinions, instead of relying on things others have told you.

2. The essay is more directed toward everyone.  He includes himself, as well as everyone in the argument.

3. It adds ethos to his argument, which backs his theory with fact, instead of just his ideas.

4. He expands it by using fashion as an example, as well as going into detail of what he was saying, and the meaning behind it. It makes it much easier to understand.

5. It makes the article stronger.  We are about to imagine things such as Hoopskirts, in our generation, as boys wearing girls jeans.  We are able to subsitiute these things, and understand his logic.

6. It is ironic because people jump on the ban wagon of trends even if they are something as silly as Hoopskirts.

7. He sums up his entire argument in the paragraph. He takes the idea away from the consequence.

8. It sums up the two points with repetition to make sure we understand.

9. It makes them seem more important.

11. Most people believe in one thing, and others believe in the other which is a hyperbole.It is probably a little heavier on one side, but probably close to even. In paragraph 8, there is an understatement when it talks about how a coldly thought out verdict is unheard of.
